Typhoon Ondoy, internationally known as typhoon Ketsana, was the most devastating typhoon in the 2009 typhoon season, and caused damages of over USD 1.09 billion and 747 casualties. Even though the winds were not as strong as Milenyo, vast amount of rain, 455 mm in just 24 hours, caused massive flooding. Flood water reached as high as 6.1 meters in some rural areas. Parts of Metro Manila were severly affected, with high flood waters in many areas as the Laguna Lake overflowed its boundaries.

Lanesra Foundation distributed cooked meals in Barangay Putatan and Bayanan of Muntinlupa City, which were particularly badly hit.
